Could you tell me if the microphone is detachable please? I intend to use it for gps rather than moble phone (although the latter is also attractive). I assume I will be able to pair the device with my hx4700 pda.
Yes it is, and yes you can pair to any bluetooth device that supports the audio profiles.
is this an intercomm
No, it is a bluetooth headset for a mobile phone.
This is giving me kittens trying to get the GPS through the helmet. I can use the Bluetooth connection to connect to the phone and take calls up to 60+ mph fine - the people calling do not even realise I am on a bike. But as soon as I want to use the Bluetooth GPS on the phone the scala has to be disconnected and an earbud handsfree used otherwise the phone will not connect to the GPS (Nokia 6670, Bluetooth GPS and TomTom mopbile 5)

This is not something we have tested. You might want to try contacting Cardo direct for detailed support, http://www.cardowireless.com/

I have a bluetooth crash helmet , will the scala hands free divice communicate with it.
Many thanks.
The Scala Rider is really designed to pair up to a mobile phone. It does support the bluetooth protocol, however this is not something we have or can easily test.
can this headset be used away from the helmet?
thanks
It will physically work, however there is no way of mounting it or attaching to your ear.
hi I have seen a teamset of these headsets to use between driver and pillion can you supply?? chef
Yes we can, please do a search for MBTI in the search box on the web site.
will this work with garmin zumo 550 gps
If the Zumo will support bluetooth audio, then yes, this should work.
Is the list of compatible phones up to date as I have a orange spv m3100 phone which I would have thought would be compatible but is not listed.
Yes this phone is fine. This list needs to be updated again! If your phone is bluetooth, it will work just fine.
Hi - can you fit alternative headphones with this unit? I assume it supports stereo sound? The headphone I have in mind at the in ear vaiety for improved wind noise blocking on the bike. If yes it would be ideal for the Zumo GPS, as thats an MP3 player too :-) Thanks.
Unfortunately you cannot do this, it is mono and you need to use the speaker that is supplied.
Can you confirm if this product will work with the first generation of TomTom Rider. i know that TomTom are packagaing it with their Version 2 product and I would like to upgrade my version 1 tomtom with this product as the headset provided with my tomtom is very basic.
As far as we know there are no reported issues, it should just "work" as long as the device supports bluetooth.
Could you tell me whether you can manually adjust the base volume on the heatset. the reason being that I ride with earplugs and obviously the volume will need to be louder than a rider without?
You can adjust the volume, however we do not think it will be loud enough to use with ear plugs.
do you have more of these coming in to stock?
We try to keep good stocks of this product.

Hi, I have a team set and one headset seems to voice activate easier, while the other ones voice and manual activation is very intermitten, but usually not at all..It doesnt matter how close we turn them on to each other and they both receive the same amount of charging. We have tried swapping them between helmets but we get the same results. What is the problem?? Thanks any advice will be appreciated..Did we get a bad set???
sincerely, Patrick

It sounds like you have a faulty unit, suggest returning it for replacement / repair.
can speaker be fitted to scala rider bluetooth for in car instructions
You can pair the scala rider with satellite navigation systems for driving directions.
are there any wires connecting the phone to the headset
No wires , its a bluetooth device, so providing your handset has bluetooth ,this product should be fine.
will the scala rider work with other sat nav devices eg mio c520t many thanks
It will probably work, however they have not all been tested. This really is just a standard bluetooth interface.
OK. The microphone is detachable. Can I hook in a built in microphine that is already in the helmet into the Scala? The helmet has Bluetooth already but will not hook up with my Zumo
Unfortunately we cannot advise on this, you would have to try it.
